Georgian national team won the first match in the World Cup 2019 Qualifiers. Team trained by Ilias Zouros gained its first victory over Austria, after defeat with Germany and Serbia last November.
Georgians won the first period 19:5 and after that, in the second quarter, they even advanced by 21 points. Giorgi Tsintsadze was injured in the second period and left the playground until the end of the game. Austrians dropped the first three-pointer in the second half of the second period and afterwards, they started to reduce the difference with the long shots. Before the big break, 9 points were left out of Georgian leadership and after losing the third period 15:18, they had 6-point advantage only – 55:49.
In the last period, the members of the Georgian national team showed a fighting character and came to the victory.
