The rivals of the Georgian youth teams were revealed at the draw ceremony held in Germany

The draw of the FIBA European Youth Championships was held today in Freising, Germany. As you are aware, the capital of Georgia will host the European Under-20 Championship Division B on July 15-24, 2022, and our interest, naturally, is mostly focused on this age. 

The ceremony was attended by the Vice-President of the Georgian National Basketball Federation, Vladimer Boisa, who participated in the draw and gave place to several teams in the groups. So, the Georgian U-20 team got into Group B together with Sweden, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Austria. 

FIBA Under-20 European Championship (Division B)

In total, teams from 20 countries will take part in the FIBA European Championship Division B to be held in Tbilisi. 4 groups consisting of 5 teams were formed. The best 2-2 teams from each group will upgrade to the second stage and continue to fight for a place in the top three from the quarterfinals. The 3 best teams will get the ticket to the elite, Division A of the FIBA European Championship. 

The FIBA European Under-20 Championship Division B to be held in Tbilisi on July 15-24 will be quite representative and the teams of Serbia, Latvia and Poland, along with Georgia and other countries, will take part in it. 

FIBA Under-18 European Championship (Division B)

The FIBA European Under-18 Championship /Division B will be held in Oradea, Romania from July 29 to August 7, 2022. Georgian national team is in Group B together with the Netherlands, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Norway and Kosovo. There are 24 teams competing in Division B in this age group, which have been divided into 4 groups. The best 2-2 teams from there will go to the eighth-final and will fight for the prize places going to Division A.

FIBA Under-16 European Championship (Division B)

U-16 Division B will be held on August 11-20 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The national teams of 24 countries will gather here as well and the format of the tournament will be similar to other youth championships. Georgia’s opponents in Group D will be Estonia, Belgium, Hungary, Cyprus and Austria.

FIBA European Under-18 Girls Championship (Division C)

Draw for the girls’ European Championships was also held today. Georgian national team competes in U-18 and U-20 championships. The U-18 team will play in Division C, which will be hosted by Andorra on July 26-31. Our team rivals in the group will be the teams of Gibraltar and Moldova.

FIBA European Under-20 Girls Championship (Division B)

As for the girls under 20, Division B will be held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, and the teams of 19 countries will compete in it. Georgia will compete in Group B with the national teams of Germany, Israel, Iceland and Armenia.
