Spain Is Champion Of Europe

Spanish National team is the champion of Europe. Team coached by Sergio Scariolo which played group stage in Tbilisi and won 4 out of 5 games, competed without defeat at the playoff of the championship and convincingly  beat France in the final by 88:76 (Statistics)

It should be noted that Spanish were defeating opponents by 21 points in the second quarter. It seemed that outcome of the final was already decided, but French could win the end of second and beginning of thirds quarters by 20:2 and cut down difference to 3 points – 46:49

That was the reason why Spanish coaches decided to take time out. They changes tactics and increase difference to 58:46 once more. This was the decisive moment, after which French national team could not come close to the opponent.

Juancho Hernangomez became the true hero of the final. He scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Willy Hernangomez collected 14 points and 8 rebounds, as for Lorenzo Brown, he contributed 14 points and 11 assists.

Performance of Evan Fournier (23 points) Thomas Heurtel (16 points, 7 assist) Guerschon Yabusele (13 points, 6 assists) should be distinguished among French players as well.

Spanish National Team experienced only loss of the tournament against Belgium in Tbilisi (73:83). Afterall They defeated Bulgaria (114:87) Georgia (90:64), Montenegro (82:65) Turkey (72:69) Lithuania (102:94) Finland (100:90) and Germany (96:91)

2 Spanish players Lorenzo Brown and Willy Hernangomez were among the all star 5 of the tournament. Spanish number 14 became the MVP of EuroBasket 2022 as well. Except Spanish, Giannis Antetokounmpo,  Rudy Gobert and Dennis Schroder were in all star 5 as well.

This is 4^th European Championship of the Spanish National team. They have won the title in 2009 2011, 2015 before.
